Introduction

You will note that this edition of our Newsletter takes on a new format- providing you with quick highlights on all the developments that have either taken place or are planned in the coming months. Should you wish to learn more on each of the subjects there is a link that you click onto, and it will take you to a full report in our on-line Newsletter.

USA - Pennsylvania

We are pleased to announce that we have agreed terms and have a signed agreement with Scientific Games (SG) and The Pennsylvania Lottery to roll-out both in-lane draw based games as well as providing an instant tickets solution through the SCiQ Instant Ticket dispenser launching with the National retailer Giant Eagle. launching with the National retailer Giant Eagle later this year.

Canada - Loto Quebec

We recently agreed terms and are in the process of finalising our agreement with Loto Quebec in Canada to roll out a pilot project for in-lane sales on a ‘Self-Checkout’ device in partnership with the retail vendor Fujitsu. This is a huge step forward and will be an excellent shop window to the other four Provincial lotteries in Canada.

Canada - Interprovincial Lottery Corporation (ILC)

Abacus has been selected as one of the vendors to participate in a Digital Innovation Request for Proposals in Canada by the ILC.  

USA - Texas

We have been working hard on the integration into the IGT back-end gaming systems of the Texas Lottery over the last few months and testing has now started.    

USA - Arizona

We have progressed our integration work with Scientific Games in Arizona and have reached a point where full end to end testing can begin.    

USA - Iowa

With the success of the application that Abacus developed with GK Software earlier this year both Abacus and the GK US and European sales teams have started to offer the solution to retailers. Hy-vee are the first retailer to adopt the solution. They are a regional grocery chain operating out of more than 350 outlets across 6 states in the USA.      

Holland - Nederlandse Loterij

NLO remains totally committed to Abacus and our solutions, despite numerous delays in part due to their own operating difficulties and we have more projects planned to extend the range of services offered and access to more retailers.   

National Retail Fair

Having attended this huge event in the past as a visitor, this being the largest Retail Trade Fair in the World Abacus has taken the big decision to exhibit with our own booth at next year’s fair which starts on the 14th January 2022.

NCR

NCR - one of the largest technology suppliers to retail globally - undertook to develop a Proof of Concept with Abacus earlier this year to be used internally to test the mood for lottery solutions developed to their platforms. The product was a big internal success, and they were given approval to develop a fully working application in partnership with Abacus.   

Blackhawk Networks

Our discussions are continuing to try and reach a partnership agreement with Blackhawk Networks - the largest gift card supplier in the world.

UK - Sazka/Allwyn

The Sazka Group have continued to recruit high profile people to support their bid, including Lord Sebastian Coe (former MP and Olympic Gold medalist). Abacus remains an important partner for this bid and all submissions to the Gambling Commission have been submitted.

Walmart

Discussions continue with Walmart and we now meet on a regular basis to update each other on developments.

KPMG

Abacus has completed the first stage of an ISAE3402/ SSAE 18 Type II Service Auditor’s Assurance Report with The International Auditors and Accountancy practice KPMG. This is a significant step up from our previous audits and provides the industry with the highest assurances of our security and operating practices.     

NASPL

Abacus, represented by Simon Butler, was asked to join the other biggest vendors CEO’s to take part in a round table discussion about the future of the lottery industry in North America.

Playport

With the increasing importance of digital at retail, our partnership with Playport takes on greater importance. The integration of their mobile digital lottery solutions into the Abacus Platform has started in recent months in readiness for deployment next year.

European lottery opportunities

Abacus continues to remain in touch with the Belgium National Lottery and the German lotteries where we expect progress to be made in the early part of 2022.

Sales pipeline

Please review our updated sales pipeline that provides some insights into when lotteries will both contract with Abacus and go live in their markets.

Investors meeting

We are pleased to announce that we plan to hold the first Investors meeting in two years in the first quarter of 2022.
